Monolithic capacitors, also known as multilayer ceramic capacitors, can be divided into three categories according to materials: temperature compensated NPO dielectrics, high dielectric constant X7R dielectrics and semiconductor Y5V dielectrics. The first kind of temperature compensation NPO dielectric has the most stable electrical performance, which basically does not change with temperature, time and voltage, and belongs to the low-loss capacitor material type and ultra-stable type. The second type is X7R-like dielectric with high dielectric constant. X7R is a very strong dielectric, so capacitors with larger capacity than NPO dielectric can be manufactured. This type of capacitor will change with the change of voltage, temperature and time, and belongs to the stable capacitor material type. The third category is semiconductor Y5V dielectric, which usually has a high dielectric constant and is often used to produce large capacity capacitors with higher nominal capacity and larger specific capacity. Compared with X7R, its capacity stability is poor.
